A new collection of high-res images from upcoming Marvel Studios movie Captain Marvel feature the shape-shifting Skrulls, the elite Kree fighting team Starforce, Carol Danvers’ old friend Maria Rambeau, and more!
Captain Marvel will be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie since last year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, and like that movie it’s set before the events of Avengers: Infinity War. Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel will reveal the origin story of Carol Danvers, who is destined to become the strongest superhero in the MCU and is also set to appear in this year’s big team-up movie, Avengers: Endgame. First, however, we have to go back to the 1990s to find out how Carol became Captain Marvel – and it’s a story that involves our old friends Nick Fury and Phil Coulson.
New stills and behind-the-scenes photos from Captain Marvel, shared by ComicBookMovie, offer a closer look at characters like the Kree warriors Bron-Char and Minn-Erva, who fight alongside Carol as part of Starforce. The leader of the team is played by Jude Law, and is believed to be the villain character Yon-Rogg, who has been confirmed to appear in Captain Marvel. Check out the latest images from the movie below:
Based on what we’ve learned from the trailers, Carol Danvers ends up being recruited by the Kree for their war after an accident that strips her of her memories and leaves her with some Kree physiology, including heightened strength and durability. The only clue that she has to her past is a fragment of her US Air Force dog tags that includes the last four letters of her surname, so she ends up going by the name “Vers” while with the Kree.
